About

Hi. I’m Siobhan, a Birth and Postnatal Doula and IBCLC based in Wimbledon.

If you’re looking for unhurried, warm support through pregnancy, birth or the early weeks with your baby, I’d love for you to read a little of my story.

Origins

From Ballito to Wimbledon

I was born in Ballito, a quiet coastal village in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. I’ve lived in the UK for many years now, and these days I call Wimbledon in South West London home, where I live with my family.

Being rooted in my local community matters to me. I feel privileged to support the families who live nearby — in homes I can reach gently, in a neighbourhood that has become part of who I am.

The Path

How my doula journey began

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been quietly fascinated by the strength of a woman’s body and the extraordinary process of birth. It’s something I returned to again and again, long before I had the word for what I felt drawn to.

I first heard the word “doula” while supporting my dear friend at the birth of her son, Joshua. Being present in that room — offering what I could, simply by being there — gave me a glimpse of work I hadn’t yet imagined for myself. A midwife colleague encouraged me afterwards to consider training, and that gentle nudge set me on this path.

I’ve never thought of this work as a job. It’s a privilege — one I carry carefully, and one I’m still grateful for with every family I meet.

Training

Trained, recognised and always learning

I trained as a Birth and Postnatal Doula with Nurturing Birth in October 2008, and was recognised with Doula UK in June 2009. I abide by both organisations’ Codes of Practice, and consider my training an ongoing part of how I show up for families — never something I’ve finished learning.

Feeding Support

Supporting families with feeding

During my early years as a doula I saw, again and again, how much conflicting feeding advice families were being given. It quietly unsettled me — and pushed me to learn more. I trained as a peer supporter with both the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers and La Leche League so that I could offer something steadier and better-informed.

I went on to work alongside several Lactation Consultants, learning from each of them. It was Mary Griffiths who encouraged me to sit the IBCLC exam in 2011 — which I passed, and I’m proud now to call myself an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

What matters most to me

How a family is cared for in pregnancy and early parenthood shapes how they remember it. These are the things I hold close in every visit, every conversation, every birth.
